Last year we visited Stoney Cove and had a fantastic time. This year we're off to the NDAC in Chepstow near Cardiff. It's bigger, deeper for those who want it, and has even more toys! You can download a map of the dive site here. There are tons of video footage on YouTube, a lot of it rubbish, but we've found some good footage from a UK Club who visited the site at the same time of year, May, so will give you a good idea of what toys you can expect to see and what visibility you can expect.
We're catching the ferry over to the Uk on Friday, 30th April. We've booked two days unlimited diving on Saturday and Sunday. Divers drive back to Holyhead on Sunday night for the overnight ferry back to Dublin. We'll arrive into Dublin at 6am on Monday morning. And you have the day off work to recover!
We're staying in a lovely village Guesthouse and Pub just 20 mins drive from the Quarry. The pub has a great reputation locally for good food and a wide choice of beers. The family run guesthouse offers comfortable accommodation and well used to catering for groups of divers. We've booked twin and triple rooms for the group, room only. Divers can either buy their breakfast at the Guesthouse each morning, or pick up breakfast at the dive site. We'll book the group in for dinner on the Friday and Saturday night but the cost of dinner is not included in the price of your trip.
We've got a max of 14 places on this trip, so definitely book early as there were a few disappointed divers last year! As last time, we've booked 3 cars plus our van on the ferry. We'll load up the van with everyone's dive gear, tanks, weights, drysuits etc etc. We then need three volunteer drivers for the trip. Each car will take 4 people and the petrol costs will be split equally in each car.
The cost of the trip is €365. This is for 3 cars, 1 van and 14 passengers on the Ferry. It includes 2 days diving in NDAC and twin or triple accommodation. Divers will pay fuel, air fills and food separately.
